Strengthening of cooperation between ARSN-Mauritania and CNESTEN-Morocco

As part of the strengthening of cooperation links in the field of the peaceful use of nuclear applications in the African region, a partnership agreement was signed on Thursday 11 March 2021 in Rabat between Mr. ISHAGH MOHAMED MOUSSA, President of the National Authority for Radiation Protection, Safety and Nuclear Security (ARSN) of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, and Mr. Khalid EL MEDIOURI, Director General of ARSN, President of the National Authority for Radiation Protection, Safety and Nuclear Security (ARSN) of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, and Mr. Khalid EL MEDIOURI, Director General of the National Centre for Nuclear Energy, Science and Technology (CNESTEN) of the Kingdom of Morocco.

Under this agreement, the two institutions will strengthen the exchange of experience and the development of human skills in the fields of nuclear and radiological safety and security, in particular through the hosting of scientific visits, the supervision of professional internships, the deployment of technical expertise and the joint organisation of and participation in seminars or workshops on topics of common interest.

In particular, the two institutions have put in place mechanisms to steer and monitor the actions to be undertaken within the framework of this agreement, so as to enable a better contribution of nuclear science and technology to the development of the various socio-economic sectors, in a safe and sustainable manner.
