President's word

The National Authority for Radiation Protection, Safety and Nuclear Security (ARSN) ensures, on behalf of the Mauritanian State, the control of radiation protection, safety and nuclear security with the aim of protecting workers, patients, the public and the environment, of the harmful effects and risks of exposure linked to the use of ionizing radiation.

This new website, launched by the ARSN, aims to provide its visitors with relevant information that meets the needs of national and international partners, the general public and the media. It fits perfectly into the communication strategy put in place by the ARSN.

Regulatory texts (laws, decrees, orders) relating to the peaceful use of nuclear energy in Mauritania, good practice guides and forms are published to allow operators and users to access ARSN services online.

In Mauritania, activities using ionizing radiation exist in many sectors. We note in particular the medical field, the industrial field or the agricultural field.

All these activities related to ionizing radiation are a potential factor in increasing the exposure of the population and the environment to ionizing radiation. This is why the ARSN's mission is to strengthen the national safety regime for the population, property and the environment in the face of the risks associated with the use of ionizing radiation sources. It controls and ensures compliance with the law and regulations of facilities and activities.

The ARSN is determined to be an independent and transparent regulatory authority for practices or activities related to the use of ionizing radiation.

Our independence is defined by our autonomy both at the decision-making level and by our financial autonomy or our legal personality. In terms of transparency, the ARSN wants to be open on a national, regional and international level and is committed to make reliable information available to the public, its users and its partners.

Thank you
